    Frequently Asked Questions

What is Brass C26000 (Cartridge Brass)?

Brass C26000 is the classic 70/30 Cu-Zn cartridge brass per ASTM F467 - excellent cold-formability, moderate strength (tensile 47-76 ksi depending on temper), and good corrosion resistance in fresh water and mild atmospheres. Standard general-purpose brass for decorative + plumbing + light structural bolting.

How does C26000 compare to naval brass (C46400)?

C26000 has no tin addition; naval brass C46400 adds 0.6-1.0% Sn for improved dezincification resistance in seawater. Choose C26000 for fresh-water and atmospheric service; choose C46400 for marine nut applications.

Common applications for cartridge brass bolts?

Architectural hardware, decorative bolts, low-stress plumbing assemblies, electrical terminal bolts, and matched-brass-assembly bolting. Not used for high-load structural service.

    Available dimensional patterns?

ASME B18.2.1 hex bolts, B18.5 round-head carriage bolts, B18.6.7M metric machine screws. Cartridge brass cold-works easily so cold-formed head shapes are routinely available.
